Advent Week 1: All Call

“The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
-Luke 1:28, NIV

Did you know that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a teenager? The Jewish tradition of that time was girls were married around 12 or 13 years old. It’s estimated by some scholars that Mary was probably between 13 and 14 when she gave birth to Jesus. 

Can you imagine God appearing to your teenage self? ​

What would it be like to hear those words spoken to you just like they were shared with Mary in Luke 1:28? "You are highly favored!" "The Lord is with you!" 

While there will never be another young woman called to bring Jesus into the world, there is an all call for everyone everywhere to be Jesus to the world around them. 

No matter what age, race, socioeconomic level, gender, or stage of life you're in, God has great things planned for you right now. So, don’t let anything hold you back from reaching for big goals and dreams. God clearly has used ordinary people to extraordinarily change the course of history in the past and will not stop presently. You are the key that unlocks Jesus’ love to the world.

Advent Idea: Make some Christmas cards by writing down an inspirational, encouraging message for those you love. Stash them away for gift exchanges. ​
